12:59 am wow_ladies [aereci] [Link]	Questions on priest leveling. Through my quest to have every single caster DPS in the game I've been leveling a shadow priest. She's just 60, so she has a long way to go. I've tried using the memories for my questions but since they're aimed at level 80s, I can't use a lot of the suggestions. Question one: Please don't take this the wrong way, but is taking the time to gear up a shadow priest DPS worth it? I've heard people say that shadow priests are fully capable of high DPS, but I've also heard that they "cap out" and can't pull the numbers an arcane mage or a destro lock could. In your opinion, is it worth it to level a priest to DPS or would I do more damage in the end leveling a warlock and saving the priest for heals or professions? I really don't want this question to sound rude (because nobody likes hearing anyone imply their class is "obsolete" or "caps out"), but I'm genuinely curious and don't know how else to phrase it. Question two: What should my shadow rotation be for fighting mobs? Not in heroics, just in quests. I've been using vampiric touch, shadow word: pain, then using MB when it's up and spamming mind flay. Is it worth it to use devouring plague? Should I maybe stop using vampiric touch? I want a time-effective way of killing stuff. It seems like it's taking forever so far. Question three: How does a disc priest work pennance into their rotation? I just learned it in my dual spec. Up until now i've been using bubbles and flash heals in instances. Should I use it every time it's off CD? 04:07 pm wow_ladies [paintmarks] [Link]	Commissioning fanart for my Boyfriend for Christmas Hello ladies! I come asking a favour. I've spent the last few days trolling some websites to get some ideas about what to give my boyfriend for Christmas. I finally got an idea after reading through the comm this afternoon. Unfortunately I am terrible at drawing, so doing it myself is out of the question. So, I've decided I'd really love to commission some fan art of two of his toons for him. I'd be willing to pay pretty decently... I'm not looking for anything hugely special, just something that he could frame or keep on his desk at work. Would anyone be interested in doing this? Today I just started a draenei shaman to play with a friend who's new to my server and I was wondering if anyone had managed to get exalted with other factions to get the other mounts by the time they got to level 20? All my previous characters are from vanilla WoW and have always had their first mount at level 40. I don't like the elekks and would much rather have a horse instead. So I'm wondering if I should head out to Elwynn forest right now, or do all of Azure Myst Isle first? Any tips and/or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much! Unfortunately in doing so, it would seem that our notification system has been broken somehow. Our engineers are working on this issue as quickly as possible. Artist - me \| Rating - [G] ( click for full view ) I love the Horde, a lot, but even though my orc here was the first character I ever made (and RPed) I ended up playing mostly Alliance due to my hubby and friends being on the ally side. That pet there is the Rake. I tamed him back when elite made a difference. I had him until they made it so beastmasters could tame exoctic pets. Now I have a cute lil' black worm and the Rake's in the stables. Funny how you can feel attached to a virtual pet. o_o; I have a lvl 20-ish (almost 30) undead warlock on Farstriders, then a 50-60 something DK tauren and orc hunter on Sentinels along with a 20-something rogue too. I moved most of my Horde characters to Sentinels to play with a friend, but right after I moved they moved to another server. ( ﾟДﾟ) Looking for Guild: Does anyone have a guild on these servers I could join? The game's really much more fun when there's great people to play with. I'm just looking for friendly one, that possibly we could raid after I reach 80. Haven't been too interested in RP ever since the guild I was in for it fell apart back in 2005. I know the Nerves of Steel talent (I think that's what it is called) in the second-tier Frost tree is almost a necessity if you are dual-wielding. 12:09 pm wow_ladies [marzipan9] [Link]	c my PvP disc/PvE shadow baby priest finally dinged 80 a couple of days ago. I've already had her in Ulduar (O.o). Being a Shadow Priest is sooooo much different for anything I've ever done. I have a combat rogue (yay rotation whore!), a resto/boomkin druid (yay I get to do my favorite rotation! yay!), and a sadly neglected failknight (unholy death coil spam!). So I'm a rotation whore. Seriously. I love pounding on the dummies and switching stuff up and making the rotation work for me. BUT. Shadow priests. They don't have a rotation. gasp die I did a bunch of reading (elitist jerks, shadowpriest.com, wow forums, etc), talked to some of my shadow priest guildmates (one of which makes me go HA HA HA when people post about shadow priests being lower in dps then other classes--he's seriously always in the top 5), and messed around with some stuff while doing a couple of heroics yesterday. I've found when I concentrate my dps goes up about 400, lol. But if I let my mind wander (I told you, I'm a combat rogue, I can mash those buttons while reading a book), it drops dramatically. So here's what I have worked out/mashed together/cobbled up. On the pull: VE/VT/MB/WP/MF2/SWP then after that it's just refreshing dots and blasting MB whenever it's on CD. I'm really bad at the MB thing--I have a tendency to cast a dot even if MB is off CD. BAD PRIEST MB FIRST. Also, I've read that it's bad to clip (whut clip huh? lol) VT and WP, and if you're going to clip MF, do it after 2 ticks. And only cast SWP after 5 stacks of Shadow Weaving, because if you don't, it doesn't proc properly with the increased SP--and I need to think about recasting it after trinket procs and such. And SW:D only gets cast if there's not enough time for a MF2, but all dots are up and MB is on CD. Mind sear on groups of 4 or more, 3 or less is cross-dotting. Oi. Also? Haste? Well, I guess I shouldn't bother with learning about haste right now since 3.3 is totally going to screw with how things work, lol. It's a lot to wrap my head around--am I at least on the right track? :D And I dug and dug and dug for Face Melter, but it has apparently been discontinued. What SP add ons can you recommend? 08:52 am wow_ladies [dragonhawker] [Link]	Returning to my roots... Warriors in Wrath Since Wrath came out, I've been focusing pretty much exclusively on my hordeside characters. For ages now I've been thinking about how I really need to level at least one of my Alliance toons to 80, and at this point I've pretty much decided -- I want to go back to my very first toon ever, a dwarf warrior. I really want to see alliance-side northrend, and I never have. Only problem is -- I don't know anything about playing a warrior in Wrath. I figure it will be easier getting back into the swing of a warrior than it would be on my mage (this frostfire business I don't understand at ALL) -- the basics are still pretty simple, right? Hit things with two weapons; or maybe with big weapons; or, in some cases, hit things with TWO big weapons. That's fine in general, but the details... For smoothest leveling in Northrend, what spec should I be? What rotation? What stats should I gear for? Where should I quest first to get the maximum ally-side Northrend experience? So what have you done/are you doing to prepare for the changes and new content? Is there something you're farming in anticipation of a particular profession change? New specs you've been planning to try out? Personally, I'm stuck trying to decide which glyph I'm going to sacrifice on my Tree Drood for the new Glyph of Rapid Rejuvenation. 11:33 am worldofwarcraft [dr_laxative] [Link]	Back or not? 6 months ago I took a small break from WoW and it ended up being a much longer break then anticipated. I haven't played since. Now that the winter months have arrived and staying in is more favourable then drinks on a patio, I'm considering returning. Although I have a 80 Mage, 75 Priest, 70 Druid, etc etc etc... I'm not interested in returning to those characters but I know that if I put money on my account, start a new toon the temptations to simply return to a fully geared character in a high end guild will win. I'm curious if anyone has ever returned to WoW and successfully started a new character and put all their efforts into it while succsefully ignoring all other toons. Personally, my only thoughts on the patch so far (other than OMFG ICECROOOOOOWN) is on the new hunter ammo being arrows for gnomish engineers and bullets for goblin engineers only. 09:08 am wow_ladies [w3nna] [Link]	My first post, and it's a rant. :'( So, I run with a really amazing 10 man group. It's a very casual group but we are all achievement whores so basically we spend 2 nights a week trying to get achievements. We don't even call it raiding. Most of us don't run 25's due to life (myself being in school full time, I very rarely get to run 25s) so this is our fun raid time. So the only achievement left for us to get our drakes is One Light, and we were all ready to GO last night. The plan was to beat on Algalon first, but they had forgotten that the extended raid was from one where he'd already been attempted. Anyway the RL "promised" one of the hunters that we would wait for her to do hard mode Vezax so she could get a cloak off of him. However, we had decided to let Ulduar reset this week. (our raid nights are Tuesday and Sunday btw) so we are going to have to clear up to him anyway. But she refused to kill Vezax to get some Yogg time in and instead made us go to hToC. I got 5 tells from other members saying they agreed with me so I'm not the only one that didn't want to go. Another thing that's infuriating about it is that Vezax is NOT HARD to clear up to, especially since we don't have any need for the other hard modes, and hard mode Vezax is laughably easy. I think it's kind of crappy to make promises on behalf of the entire group for one person. I've had the same problem with this group in the past, where the majority wanted one thing, and the RL wanted to do something else so she seems to just make up reasons why we can't do this thing and have to do that thing. On the plus side, we got tribute to mad skill and I got Perdition. We actually got to Anub with no wipes so I'm convinced that next week will be Insanity. My luck with PUG dps and tanks has been less than stellar and my guild isn't always available to run with me, or has no need to run. I don't, either, aside from the fact that I'm buying temporary pvp gear with badges, becaus dying is not so fun. 01:17 am wow_ladies [unbrokenwings] [Link]	ToGC 10 Anub a few strat questions. My guild didn't have a lot of luck with ToGC at first. We never seemed to get the right combination of people online, or the times we did get the right group, everything felt off. Then three weeks ago, we started having success. Northrend beasts went down, and then the following week Jaraxxus. This week, we powered right through the first two bosses, downed Faction Champs and the twins with 41 attempts remaining. We tried Anub once after reading the strat, but it was 12am pst when we did that pull, and for one of our raiders who lives in Scotland it was 8am! So we've seen it, a little, but I have a few questions. To make sure we're clear: I've read the strats before. All of our raiders have spent today reading them. But we have a two hour raid slot to get our ten best people online to do the fight, and we have 40 attempts left. We could bash our faces against it all night. But we're going for a chest damn it, we're shooting high as it could be the last week of this being "relevant"! And sometimes, I learn a lot more asking you all questions. I understand that you have to get him down within one borrow phase. Other then, dps dps dps, what do your groups do to succeed? The orbs, and their placement. I've read a few things about putting some next to him, and one to the far side of the room. Where do you all place them? Anywhere in particular that helps? The adds during Phase three, I know they continue to come, do they just keep coming during set intervals, or do you just get two more? (Not a lot was exactly clear on this.) As far as having two healers, we have an amazing tree, and amazing priest, and an amazing paladin. Each one's ability to heal is excellent, and two out of the three (the Tree and the Paladin) have DPSers that we can take instead. What do you use? TIA! (11 comments \| Leave a comment)
